It's Homecoming Week! Students are invited to dress up around daily themes to show their school spirit. Tomorrow, October 11th is Hawaiian Day, Wednesday, October 12th is Disney Day. Thursday, October 13th is Squad Day. Friday, October 14th is ORANGE OUT Day -- it will also be an Early Release Day.

School picture day is tomorrow! Here's a few tips on what to wear: A simple, solid color to make you stand out against the background -- no shirts with logos, pictures, or witty sayings... or anything super trendy! Those will distract people from your face.

Pep Rally this Thursday at 12:10!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and your Mineola Middle School Cheerleaders will be selling Pink Out shirts and bracelets all month long.
However, we are doing things a little differently this year. There are no order forms going out. Mrs. White will have shirts and bracelets on hand for purchase. You will be able to purchase these items at MS volleyball games, MS football games, and Fridays during MS lunch. If you are unable to make those times and/or places, you can also visit JEB Mineola downtown. She will have some available and the proceeds will still go to the MMS Cheerleaders. Shirts are $18 and bracelets are $1.

Mrs. Witt's 7th Grade science students are dissecting beans while learning about how plants respond to external stimuli, including temperature, light, touch, water, and gravity.

Student Led Conferences will be on Monday, October 24th. Watch for information from your student's teachers. Letters will be sent home on October 11th.

Save the date for Halloween Hangout, Friday, October 28th! It will be from 5:30 to 7:30 in the gym. Concessions will be available -- all items $1.

School will be closed Friday, October 7th and Monday, October 10th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 11th.

Friday, October 14th is an Early Release Day. Lunch will be at Noon and students will be released at 12:30 p.m.

Just to remind everyone that picture day is Tuesday, October 11th -- the same day as Hawaiian spirit day. You may choose to wear Hawaiian that day and change for photos or not. Just be aware that it is picture day and dress accordingly. :)

On Wednesday, October 26th, we will be giving the PSAT 8/9 test on the middle school campus. The cost is $14.00 and the test is available to 8th grade students. The PSAT 8/9 allows students to practice and prepare for the SAT. It gives them an opportunity to work on timed tests since they tend to struggle with the time constraints of the SAT and ACT. In addition, the PSAT corresponds directly to the SAT, and with the results, you will receive information on how to continue to prepare for the SAT based on your student’s scores.
If you would like for your son or daughter to take the PSAT 8/9, please have him or her come by the counselor’s office to sign up by Oct 21st . Please make checks payable to Mineola Middle School. Space is limited, so students should sign up soon. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 903-569-5338.

Join us at 7:30 a.m. this Wednesday for prayer at the pole. See you at the pole! #syatp22
