Early this morning the District received news that Selene Delgadillo, a 3rd Grade student at Mineola Elementary School, passed away the previous evening at a Tyler hospital. Please join us in praying for Selene’s family, as well as her school family, and friends during this difficult time.
Counselors have been made available throughout the day and will continue to be made available for any of our students or staff that need someone to talk to.
The family has established a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses that can be found at the link below:

Re: Weekly COVID-19 Update
Good evening everyone!
From Wednesday, August 11th through Friday, August 20th, the following cases of COVID-19 were documented at Mineola ISD:
Mineola High School - 7 Positive Student Cases, 1 Positive Staff
Mineola Middle School- 3 Positive Student Cases, 0 Positive Staff
Mineola Elementary School- 0 Positive Student Cases, 0 Positive Staff
Mineola Primary School- 5 Positive Student Cases, 2 Positive Staff
*4 out of the 15 positive cases among students were completely asymptomatic.
*Our total student enrollment as of 8.20.21 is 1615 students. Our positivity rate is .0092 for the virus.
*We highly encourage parents to sign the permission forms so that we can test your child if they are experiencing symptoms for COVID-19 or have had a close contact encounter. We have conducted over 1,000 tests in the District since the pandemic began. The Abbott Laboratory Binax tests are 98% accurate and completely free to your child. These allow you to seek the healthcare treatment that you or your family may need.
*The next COVID-19 vaccine clinic hosted at Mineola ISD will occur on Monday, August 30th starting at 2:00 p.m.. These are available for anyone in the community who desires one. Data shows that in our local hospitals, a very high percentage of those currently hospitalized or in ICU are unvaccinated.
*Please continue to wash your hands and social distance if possible. Face coverings will remain optional at Mineola ISD for students and staff pending Governor Abbott's Executive Orders.
Parents and guardians, these are challenging times where often times we don't know whether to make heads or tails of an issue, but THANK YOU for trusting us with your kids day in and day out. We had tremendous academic success last year because we kept the school doors open and educated kids. Our goal is to do that again this year.
If you have any questions or we can help you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact your child's campus or any of our departments that can support you.
My best always,
Cody Mize
Superintendent of Schools
