Re: Weekly COVID-19 Update
Good afternoon everyone!
Through Friday, September 10th, the following active cases of COVID-19 are documented at Mineola ISD: *Please remember, the number of Active Cases will change daily as students that become positive go out and other students are over the mandatory 10 day quarantine period and allowed to return to school.*
Mineola High School - 24 Active Student Cases, 1 Active Staff Case
Mineola Middle School- 12 Active Student Cases, 4 Active Staff Cases
Mineola Elementary School- 5 Active Student Cases, 0 Active Staff Cases
Mineola Primary School- 4 Active Student Cases, 1 Active Staff Cases
*Our total student enrollment as of Friday, September 10th, 2021 is 1635 students. Our positivity rate is 0.027 for the virus.
*We highly encourage parents to sign the permission forms so that we can test your child if they are experiencing symptoms for COVID-19 or have had a close contact encounter with someone who is positive. We have conducted over 400 tests in the District since the 2021-2022 school year began. The Abbott Laboratory Binax tests are 98% accurate and completely FREE to your child. Please call to schedule an appointment for testing if your child needs it!
*Data shows that in our local hospitals, a very high percentage of those currently hospitalized or in ICU are unvaccinated. A very effective treatment in fighting COVID-19 has been infusion clinics that have been set up in East Texas. Here is contact information for one such clinic if you or one of your family members are in need.
Free Monoclonal Antibodies Clinic
UT Health North Campus
11937 US 271
903-877-7119
Appointment times are 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. seven days a week
**You MUST call to schedule an appointment.**
This is an infusion center for anyone over 12 years old and over 88 lbs. who has been diagnosed with COVID. You must have qualifying factors. Some, but not all, factors are as follows:
Equal to or over the age of 65
Body Mass Index over 25
Diabetes
High blood pressure
Pregnant
*Please continue to wash your hands, social distance, and wear a mask. Face coverings are encouraged, but not mandated at Mineola ISD for students that are aged appropriate (3rd Grade-12th) .
Parents and guardians, these are challenging times where often times we don't know whether to make heads or tails of an issue, but THANK YOU for trusting us with your kids day in and day out. If you have any questions or we can help you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact your child's campus or any of our departments that can support you.
My best always,
Cody Mize
Superintendent of Schools

Parents and guardians, these are challenging times where often times we don't know whether to make heads or tails of an issue, but THANK YOU for trusting us with your kids day in and day out. We had tremendous academic success last year because we kept the school doors open and educated kids. Our goal is to do that again this year.
If you have any questions or we can help you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact your child's campus or any of our departments that can support you.
My best always,
