The 88th Texas Legislative Session brought about one of the most significant property tax cuts in the history of our great state with over 18 billion dollars being used to compress school tax rates. The M&O Tax stands for Maintenance and Operation Tax. The vast majority of our school budget is funded through this revenue source. The I&S Tax stands for Interest and Sinking Tax Fund. The I&S Tax pays for the debt of the new school construction and renovations.
