Please join us in congratulating the Mineola ISD Board of Trustees for being named the Region 7 School Board of the Year. The Region 7 Educational Service Center serves over 95 school districts, 7 charter schools, over 13,000 square miles, and 17 East Texas counties.

Last Monday, students, parents, faculty and staff joined together to complete the District Needs Assessment. Our goal is always to strive for improvement as a school district. Thank you to all of those who helped in this process. #LearningTodayLeadingTomorrow

Congratulations to Mr. Todd Morgan on receiving the majority of votes to be appointed to the vacated Board seat of Dr. John Abbott at last night's Special Called Meeting. Mr. Morgan will serve until next May when the seat will become open for the general May election cycle.

Happy Friday! It truly is a Happy Friday for 23 of our outstanding teachers in Mineola ISD. Today, $203,505 dollars was paid out to outstanding teachers in our District as part of the Teacher Incentive Allotment Program created by the Texas Education Agency and funded by the State of Texas. This program rewards high-performing teachers for excellence in the classroom based on student growth and principal evaluations. Teacher checks ranged in value depending on their Teacher Designation which can be Recognized, Exemplary, or Master status. Payments ranged from $4,866 dollars up to $18,352 depending on the designation received. Teachers receiving these designations will receive this amount each year for the next five years! I personally want to thank Assistant Superintendent, David Sauer for the countless hours he invested on behalf of our teachers and campus principals. The complexity of this was extremely challenging. A special thanks as well to our Campus Administrators who were called to do even more in regard to teacher evaluations so that our teachers would have this opportunity to be a part of the program. And finally, congratulations again to all of our outstanding teachers that received designations. I hope that we can award even more next year! Have a great weekend! Please join us in praying for the family and friends of Dr. Bill Knight, who passed away on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023. Dr. Knight served the Mineola ISD community as Superintendent of Schools for over 20 years prior to his retirement from public education. He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Mineola, a fantastic storyteller, historian, and a true gentleman. A memorial service for Dr. Knight will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Mineola.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Chase Thomas to Mineola ISD! Dr. Thomas will serve our District as the new High School Campus Principal. He has served as a High School Principal, Assistant Principal, Teacher, and Coach during his career in public education. Most recently Dr. Thomas has served as the Assistant Principal at Lindale Junior High School. His commitment to academic excellence, character building, team focus, and servant leadership will continue to advance the achievements made at Mineola High School. Dr. Thomas and his Nicole have two children and reside in Mineola. Welcome aboard, Dr. Thomas!

The Mineola ISD District Improvement Committee will meet on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. in the Mineola Primary-Middle School Cafeteria. This meeting is open to the public and parent participation is encouraged.

The countdown to the Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony is on! Gates Open at Meredith Memorial Stadium on Friday, May 26th at 7:00 p.m. The Graduation Ceremony will begin at 8:00 p.m. Golf carts will be available for those needing assistance to get from the parking lot to the stadium seating. The Graduation Ceremony will also be live-streamed on the Mineola ISD Facebook Page for friends and family members unable to attend and for the community. Congratulations, Seniors! We are so proud of you.

Just a quick reminder that the community wide Baccalaureate Service is this evening at 6:00 p.m. for Seniors and their parents at the Addie McFarland Community Center. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served.
