Covid Protocol
- Per CDC recommendations, students and employees of Mineola ISD may return to school when fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medication and when symptoms such as vomiting and excessive coughing have subsided.
Medications
- All medications prescription and/or over-the counter medications require a written/signed authorization for medication administration from your healthcare provider and a signed parental permission form before the medicine can be given. All prescription medication (including inhalers) must be in the original packaging with a prescription label. OTC medications must be in the original packaging and have an expiration date that is not expired.. Please call your campus nurse if you have any questions.
Fever
- 100.4 or greater is considered a fever. Students may return when fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.
Immunizations
- State law requires students to be up-to-date on all immunizations, adhering to a current catch-up schedule, or have a notarized State of Texas Conscientious Objection form on file in order to attend school.
Handwashing
- Handwashing is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of illness/disease. Please encourage your children to wash hands frequently, especially during cold and flu season. If good old fashioned soap and water is not available, hand sanitizer is a great alternative. Having them cough/sneeze into their elbow is another simple way to slow the spread of disease.
Food Allergies/Meal Accommodations
- The Department of Agriculture requires a parent and medical provider to complete a Meal Accommodation form in order to restrict a student’s access to foods served at school.
Doctors Notes
- A doctor’s note that requires restrictions or limitations to a students ability to participate in daily activities should be turned into the front office and the nurse upon the students return to school.
We are all looking forward to a healthy new school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your campus nurse.
