"Pride Through Excellence"
Dr. John Abbott (current term May, 2017 - May, 2020)
"You cannot achieve greatness simply by claiming greatness. It takes a vision, a plan and a team to help oversee the plan and make it work." I am excited about the opportunity to work with other board members and district administrators to ensure that our students are prepared to be the best. Teaching Spanish and English at MHS was my first teaching job when I graduated from college and I consider it both an honor and a privilege to be back working with others to help MISD achieve the exemplary status that it is capable of attaining.
John Abbott was elected to the board in May 2011. He graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Austin, and holds a Bachelors Degree in Spanish and English from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos (now Texas State University), a Masters Degree in counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the same university.
