College and Career Ready
"Pride Through Excellence"
"You cannot achieve greatness simply by claiming greatness. It takes a vision, a plan and a team to help oversee the plan and make it work." I am excited about the opportunity to work with other board members and district administrators to ensure that our students are prepared to be the best. Teaching Spanish and English at MHS was my first teaching job when I graduated from college and I consider it both an honor and a privilege to be back working with others to help MISD achieve the exemplary status that it is capable of attaining.

He is a past-president of the Mineola Kiwanis Club and served as a director of the Mineola Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Mineola Civic Center Board of Directors and Chairman of the Wood County Child Welfare Board. Dr. Abbott and his wife, Janell (a math teacher at MHS), are the proud aunt and uncle of J.R. Bane (MHS Class of 2006). They are members of the First United Methodist Church in Mineola.
"Beginning my fourth year as a Mineola ISD Board Trustee, I remain humbled and honored to serve the students, staff, teachers, and administrators of Mineola ISD, and the community of Mineola. I began my tenure as a community member who simply believed in contributing. That has not changed. Our school deserves the very best, and everyone at Mineola ISD works very hard to ensure that excellence is aimed for in every area and relation. Every individual at Mineola ISD is student focused. Every dollar spent is student focused. That focus leads to Mineola ISD graduates who are college and career ready. It's about the kids."
"Much has been achieved in the last few years, and Mineola ISD is improving in all areas year over year. There is still much to be done, because the work is never done. With the community's active participation and advocating for the school, we can work together for all things Mineola - school, city, and commerce. A strong and appealing school district lends to a strong and appealing community."
